Leadership is a capacity that draws on all aspects of yourself and your organization. Developing a vision, articulating it, and inspiring others to achieve it require not only careful analysis and technical knowledge, but also a sense for what is important for the organization and for the people in and around it. Mastering these abilities is a lifelong endeavor. The Leadership Trek to Mt. Everest provides an opportunity to continue your leadership development, exercise your body, and cross-train your mind.

Ed is a mountaineer, scholar, and leading authority on mountains as sources of inspiration and meaning. He has climbed and researched mountain metaphors of leadership around the world and lectures extensively on the topic to corporate audiences and is author of the award-winning book Sacred Mountains of the World.
Ed is giving a presentation on Peak Paradigms: Mountain Metaphors of Leadership and Teamwork to the Wharton Club of Northern California on November 6.
The purpose of the leadership trek is to provide participants with opportunities to develop their leadership skills and capacities, and it is intended for those with management experience who are committed to engaging in the educational purpose of the trek. Participants may bring additional individuals with them (spouse, significant other, etc.) who may not have management experience but who nonetheless are prepared to engage in the leadership agenda of the trek. Participants will need to be in good physical condition for the substantial daily trekking over eleven days on the way to and from the region of Mt. Everest. The leadership trek is operated by Geographic Expeditions (and is not connected with The Wharton School.)
