Come join us for an unusual and delightful afternoon - and bring the whole
family! We will be spending a few hours on a ranch in Tomales in Marin
County- just a short, sunny ride from the City- visiting the Ramini
Mozzarella cheese company, reputed to be the first producer of buffalo
mozzarella cheese in the United States. Ramini buffalo mozzarella is served
in fine local restaurants such as Seven Hills and Pizzeria Delfina in San
Francisco, Rosso Pizzeria in Petaluma, Bar Bocce in Sausalito, Pizzalina in
San Anselmo, and Farmshop in Larkspur.
Ramini started in 2009 with 5
water buffalo - yes, water buffalo, not American buffalo - and now has over
40. The afternoon will start with a presentation by one of the Ramini
founders about their business model, history and core values. That will be
followed by an outdoor cheese tasting surrounded by the buffalo. Finally,
the calves will be separated from the rest of the herd and we will be
allowed to pet and interact with them. Water buffalo are noted to be
affectionate animals that respond well to humans and Ramini makes a point of
raising their calves to be socialized to enjoy human contact and
interaction.
You can learn more about Ramini at the following link -

Water and soft drinks will be provided. In addition to the cheese we
will be tasting, you can order lunch for an additional $10. Please specify
what type of sandwich you would like when you register and note any dietary
restrictions. Alternately, you may bring your own food and/or wine.
Event is open to WCNC members and their guests.
