In good times and challenging times alike, M&A activity never seems to stop. Here in Silicon Valley, large companies continue to acquire smaller companies under a variety of circumstances. Even when you think there couldn't possibly be another chapter to the Microsoft - Yahoo discussion, another curveball gets thrown by one--or both--of the players (called "Zombie M&A" by the local press--the merger that just wouldn't die!) The action never stops, but it does get increasingly difficult to (1) make sense of the landscapes that these acquisitions and mergers move through; (2) understand the dynamics of which M&A actions should happen; (3) plan what players on both sides of these mergers and acquisitions must do to maximize their chances of success; and (4) understand what "success" really means and entails.
We are excited to announce that Wharton Professor Harbir Singh--one of Wharton's star in the Management Department and well-known to generations of Wharton students for his ever-popular, must-take M&A course--will be joining us on Friday evening, November 14th for an exciting discussion on these topics and more!
Whether you are in a company looking to be acquired or looking to do the acquiring, this is your chance for a rare evening with Prof. Singh. Even if you're not currently "in the market for an acquisition," the pearls of wisdom you'll pick up will be invaluable for increasing the value of your operation regardless.
